Off We Go To Learn Greek! Φύγαμε…

Are you at the intermediate level of learning Greek and would you like to build your vocabulary and improve your listening skills?
Then the language book Φύγαμε για ελληνικά! is what you are looking for. It is written for adult learners and covers levels B1 and B2 of the Modern Greek Language.

What will you learn with this Greek Language book?

--> you will be able to read Greek texts related to everyday life topics and get information on various social and cultural aspects of life in Greece.

--> The main body of the book consists of 12 thematic units. Each unit is divided into two parts.

The 1st part includes a text or a dialogue written in simple, contemporary language followed by reading comprehension and a vocabulary exercise. Two more exercises aim to further expand and consolidate your knowledge.

The 2nd part aims to help you practice and improve your aural comprehension skills by listening to dialogue or an oral text based on the theme of the unit. It is followed by three listening comprehension exercises.

--> Greek songs related to each chapter are suggested which will provide a nice way of broadening your knowledge of the Greek language and culture.

--> At the end of the book, you will find the transcripts of the listening comprehension exercises, as well as the answer keys to exercises and a selected vocabulary list from each unit [
translated into 4 languages: English, French, German and Spanish.]

A little bit of history…
We,  Marina, Konstantinos and Dora, were teaching Greek for a long time at the Omilo-school in Greece. During our professional and friendly cooperation, we decided to write a Language Book together, for Intermediate Levels, focussing on vocabulary and listening exercises, rather than grammar. Something that did not exist and many students were asking for.
However, totally unexpected and only one year after the book was published, unfortunately, Dora passed away…
Konstantinos and Marina both continued to follow their passion and teach Greek to foreigners at Omilo, and at the same time write more language books.

From 2019, the digital version of Φύγαμε για ελληνικά! also became available [ebook], with downloadable audio files.

(note: On the audio files you do not hear the voice of Dora, since she could not be present when the recordings in Athens took place, back in 2013. However, you can listen to the voices of Marina, Konstantinos, and many others…)

 

Λίγη ιστορία…

Η Μαρίνα, ο Κωνσταντίνος και η Δώρα δίδασκαν για  πολύ καιρό μαζί στην σχολή «Ομιλώ» στην Ελλάδα. Μέσω της φιλίας και της συνεργασίας τους, αποφάσισαν να γράψουν, από κοινού, ένα βιβλίο γλώσσας για τα μέσα επίπεδα, επικεντρώνοντας στο λεξιλόγιο και τις ακουστικές ασκήσεις, παρά στην Γραμματική. Κάτι που δεν υπήρχε και πολλοί μαθητές το ζητούσαν.
Ωστόσο, εντελώς απροσδόκητα και μόνο έναν χρόνο μετά την έκδοση του βιβλίου, η Δώρα Στοϊμενίδου πεθαίνει…
Έκτοτε, ο Κωνσταντίνος και η Μαρίνα συνεχίζουν να ακολουθούν το πάθος τους διδάσκοντας ελληνικά σε ξένους στο «Ομιλώ» και συγγράφουν περισσότερα βιβλία γλώσσας.

Από το 2019, διατίθεται επίσης και η ψηφιακή μορφή του «Φύγαμε για ελληνικά!», με ακουστικά αρχεία που μπορούν να μεταφορτωθούν από το διαδίκτυο.

(σημείωση: Στα ακουστικά αρχεία δεν ακούγεται η φωνή της Δώρας καθώς δεν μπορούσε να είναι παρούσα στις ηχογραφήσεις που έγιναν στην Αθήνα, πίσω στο 2013. Ωστόσο, ακούγονται οι φωνές της Μαρίνας, του Κωνσταντίνου και πολλών άλλων…)
